Lesson 1: Fruits & Veggies

Welcome to Unit 8: Time to Eat! Great job exploring fruits and vegetables! Understanding these basic food items is a fantastic start to expanding your English vocabulary. Keep going up!

  • Vocabulary to Practice: Apple, Banana, Orange, Strawberry, Mango, Kiwi, Tomato, Corn, Carrot, Broccoli, Onion, Pepper
  • Sentences: Practice using phrases like “This is an apple,” and “I eat [fruit/vegetable].”

 

Lesson 2: Meat & Seafood

You’re becoming a food expert! You’ve learned to name and talk about various types of meat and seafood. Today we also explored where meat comes from with words like chicken, beef, and pork. Practice discussing your food choices at home with your family.

  • Vocabulary to Practice: Fish, Shrimp, Crab, Meat, Chicken, Beef, Pork
  • Sentences: Try using sentences such as “I eat fish,” and “Beef comes from cows.”

 

Lesson 3: Dairy

Nice work today discussing dairy products! Keep discussing your meals and food preferences at home.

  • Vocabulary to Practice: Milk, Cheese, Eggs, Yogurt, Butter
  • Sentences: Practice phrases like “I drink milk,” and “Butter is made from milk.”

 

Lesson 4: Grains

Good work learning about grains today! As you learn more food vocabulary words, you will be able to discuss your foods likes/dislikes more and more. Keep practicing talking to your family about food at breakfast, lunch, and dinner time!

  • Vocabulary to Practice: Bread, Pasta, Rice, Noodles
  • Sentences: Use sentences like “I eat bread,” and “Pasta comes from wheat.”

 

Lesson 5: Review #1

Great job reviewing your knowledge of food! Today, you successfully discussed food from the different food groups including fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood, and grains. Keep speaking about food at home with your family!

Lesson 7: Drinks

Staying hydrated is important too! Don’t forget to drink water! Today, you learned about drinks in English! Use these vocabulary words to talk about your daily habits and preferences. Think about which drinks are healthy and which drinks are unhealthy.

  • Sentences: Practice sentences such as “I drink coffee in the morning,” and “Juice can be sweet.”

 

Lesson 8: At the Restaurant

You’re ready to dine out in English with your new vocabulary! You’ve learned words related to eating out at restaurants. These words will help you use in English in real-world settings like restaurants and cafes. Think about what you want to order for your next meal!

  • Sentences: “I would like ____, please.” “It tastes ___.” “I will pay with ___. Thank you.”

 

Lesson 9: At the Picnic

Excellent work today! You went on a picnic adventure and practiced important food, family, and clothing vocabulary. Have fun planning a picnic with your family. What would you eat?
